Alabama Judge U.W. Clemon has written a letter to President Joe Biden asking him not to nominate Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson because of the decision she make in the Ross v. Lockheed class-action lawsuit case brought by 5,500 Black plaintiffs who worked for Lockheed Martin.

In the letter, Clemon states that “Based on her conduct in, Ross v. Lockheed, No. 1:16-CV-02508-KBJ, (DCDC), I strongly believe that Circuit Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson should not be appointed by you as the first Black female justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.”

According to Judge Clemon, Judge Jackson overturned a settlement negotiated between Lockheed Martin and its Black workers–to the detriment of the Black workers.

Clemon says Judge Jackson “gave the axe to a settlement designed to benefit numerous Black workers at one of the nation’s largest employers” and “denied the injunctive relief agreed to by Lockheed Martin that would have addressed a root cause of systemic racial bias that could have been a model for a nation hungry for racial equity solution.”

Judge Clemon asked President Biden to pick another nominee from the list of “exceptionally well-qualified Black female aspirants for the Supreme Court who have shown by their works their commitment to justice and equality.”

Editor’s Note: It has been said by some that Judge Clemon has a conflict on interest in the Lockheed Martin\Black workers case that should be considered in his negative determination of Judge Jackson.
