Washington, D.C.–Today, CNN released new polling conducted by SSRS between March 6-9, 2025 shows that voters strongly oppose President Donald Trump’s handling of the economy.

The poll comes as the stock market tumbles and the nation’s leading retailers (including Walmart, Target, and Kohl’s) and airlines (Delta, American, and Southwest) are slashing forward guidance, citing weak demand driven by macroeconomic uncertainty and declining consumer confidence.
The new CNN poll finds:
- 56 percent of voters disapprove of his handling of the economy, worse than at any point during his first term in office.
- Disapproval for Trump’s handling of the economy is even greater than his overall disapproval rating (54 percent).
- Just 39 percent of Americans approve of his handling of tariffs.
