Brooklyn, NY — As Juneteenth approaches, the Black Homeowners Preservation Coalition is calling on all elected officials to stand with Black families and elders whose homes and generational wealth have been stolen through rampant and unchecked deed theft.

Date Wednesday, June 18, 2025
Time: 12:00 PM, the coalition will hold a press conference and rally outside the office of Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, l
Address: 350 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201.
Attorney S. Felix Ngati, who represents multiple families fighting to reclaim their stolen homes, will speak at the rally and demand aggressive prosecution of all perpetrators involved in deed theft. “We want justice for all, not just a few. If you prosecuted Solny, you must prosecute the rest. Deed theft is a crime—and there is no statute of limitations,” said Ngati.
Rachel Cyprien, a victim-turned-activist, compares the ongoing crisis to a modern-day Tulsa. “This is about systemic theft of Generational Black wealth. They are stealing our legacy like they did in Greenwood. We are standing up to say: no more,” Cyprien declared.
The coalition is demanding immediate action from both DA Gonzalez and New York State Attorney General Letitia James, who has been notably absent from this crisis. “Letitia James took down Trump, but she has failed to show up for the people who put her in office,” said a coalition spokesperson. “It’s time she acts on behalf of Black homeowners who are being targeted and robbed.”
The rally will include the distribution of Know Your Rights toolkits, testimony from victims, and a call to mobilize elected officials across all levels of government to prioritize justice for Black homeowners.
