Over the past 24 hours, almost 57 people have been killed in Gaza, many while seeking aid, as the current starvation policy of Israel grips Palestinians.
Reportedly, many were shot dead as they waited for food aid trucks.
The killings occurred as both the Netanyahu Government and the Trump Administration blamed Hamas for Israel’s withdrawal from peace talks. A few apparent obstacles in the peace talks surround aid access in Gaza; the number of Palestinian prisoners to be exchanged for Israeli hostages; and where Israeli troops would be stationed during the proposed ceasefire.
Gaza has been suffering from the mass starvation policy of Israel as the peace talks slog on. The World Food Programme has warned about the “urgent need” of over 90,000 women and children who require treatment for malnutrition.
The United Nations says distributing aid in Gaza has become unworkable due to the many burdensome restrictions that have been placed upon them by Israel.
Israel has claimed there is no starvation crisis in Gaza and alleges that there is a mass media campaign being waged against them to stain the image of the state.
The Netanyahu Government now faces increasing international pressure as pictures and videos of starving emaciated babies are now being shown around the globe.
On Thursday, France announced that it would recognize a Palestinian state, at the United Nations General Assembly, this coming September. Some say France may try to convince other European nations to recognize a Palestinian state.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he was “working urgently” to get British aid into Gaza. Starmer is under rising pressure to recognize a Palestinian state.
