Zombieverse Season 2 Review: Show Overview

Zombieverse is a Korean reality television show revolving around the genre of comedy as well as horror where a group of contestants gather together to participate in a dating show but things go downhill when they find themselves stuck in a Zombie outbreak in the middle of  Seoul. The show follows their terrifying journey as they try to escape the city before the zombies get to them. The first season of the reality show was launched in the year 2023 and became a huge success after which it was renewed for another season in 2024. The series can be streamed on Netflix and is directed by Park Jin-Kyung and Moon Sang-doon.

Zombieverse Season 2: Cast

The splendid cast of Zombieverse Season 2 included many new faces as well as the ones who rejoined the cast from season one. The talented cast members of the new season include Taeyeon, Defconn, Cho Saeho, Yook Sung Jae, Code Kunst, Kwon Eunbi, Kim Seon Tae, Andre Rush, Ro Hung-chul, Lee Si-Young, DinDin, Dex, Yiombi Patricia, and Tsuki.

No Chemistry Between Characters

Now that we know who’s in the cast for season 2 of Zombieverse, let us talk about how it affected the overall performance of the show. The second season of Zombieverse is loaded with new cast members along with the survivors of season one. The group soon splits up in two because of the massive hotel setting. However, the large number of people that we had to focus on as well as the constant back and forth between the groups made it hard for the audience to connect to one or more characters and the grandees of the story and the setting made it all a huge mess in our minds. The chemistry that we saw in the cast members of season one was also missing in season two. The inclusion of the old villain from season one did help to some extent but even he could not carry the whole show on his back.

Unrealistic Tasks And Missions

The real charm of season one along with the chemistry of the cast members were the missions and tasks that the cast had to do in order to survive. The missions in season one were pretty realistic making the audience believe that it was not scripted. However, in the second season of Zombieverse, the tasks and missions became more and more unrealistic in order to add that thrilling and grand aspect to the overall story which seriously did not work at all. The missions seemed purely fictional which killed the vibe of the show and did not manage to get the audience as hooked as the first season did.

Failed Humor

The comedy element added by the entry of Ro Hang-Chul managed to win the hearts of the audience to some extent but the overall humorous element failed to be as impactful as it was in the first season. The jokes seem pretty scripted and forceful which does not offer anything extra that the audience can love.

Conclusion

Long story short, the hype killed the vibe of the show. In order to match the high expectations of the audience, the production of Zombieverse did everything they physically could to make the new season grand and more thrilling but in the process lost the very gist of the show which was fun. The second season of Zombieverse can be a quick binge-watch on a Saturday evening however it did not manage to be as impressive as the first season.
