Donald Trump’s provocative presence on the American political scene has just pushed America closer to the precipice of civil war between sane America and right-wing gun toting MAGA America.
Things are getting more dangerous as we move closer to January 20.
Today, Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol, and breached the Congress—as several Republicans were busy with their orchestrated political stunt of trying to overturn Joe Biden’s election win by challenging the Electoral College count. The protesters marched on the Congress after they were told to do so by Trump, who then went back to the White House.
The clear continuing danger of Donald Trump should be underscored by Trump’s incitement of these protesters.
The insurrectionist protesters broke through barricades breaching the Congress. There are reports of teargas being fired inside Congress against the protesters. Law enforcement pulled guns on protesters who broke glass while breaking into the Congress.
At least one person, a woman, was shot inside the Congress, an was seen taken out on a stretcher. That woman has since died.
Reportedly, Vice-President Mike Pence, who was overseeing the Electoral College certification, had to be quickly taken away, along with Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley. Will Pence go back to the White House—especially, since Trump attacked Pence tweeting, “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution?”
Several Trump protesters eventually made their way onto the U.S. Senate floor. Some made their way into the offices of lawmakers. One man was pictured sitting at the desk of the assistant to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. There are also reports of looting and vandalism.
Reportedly, several explosive devices, including at least one IED, were found.
The U.S. Capitol Police evacuated areas of the Congress. Some lawmmakers were forced to lock and barricade themselves inside their officers. National Guard troops, and several other law enforcement agencies, are now reportedly being deployed to retake control of Congress, which is now in the hands of Trump’s MAGA maniacs.
This is where we are today, January 6th, in America—where Trump is still in the White House.
After today’s close call, where America dogged a major catastrophe with Trump’s supporters, will Republicans still continue to back this thuggish gangster president? Will they still continue to make asinine idiotic excuses for this dangerous dictator?
If Republicans don’t speak up now against this seditious treasonous menace to American society when will they?
Republicans should be ashamed of today’s events, assuming they can still be shamed by anything. Their aiding-and-abetting of Trump led us to the bizarre reality that we are now witnessing and living in. What happens next after today?
We have two more weeks before Donald Trump is forced out of the White House.
But two weeks might just be too long.
