Adem Bunkeddeko, the progressive Democrat running for Congress in NY-9, has been endorsed by Indivisible National and Josue Pierre, District Leader in Brooklyn’s 42nd Assembly District.
Bunkeddeko’s campaign is continuing to surge after outraising the rest of the field and earning the endorsement of The New York Times last week.
“The son of Ugandan refugees, Adem Bunkeddeko, almost unseated the NY-9 incumbent in 2018. He has a deep understanding of the issues his Central Brooklyn community faces and believes that housing, health care, and a quality education are human rights. We’re proud to endorse Adem,” said Invisible National in their endorsement.
“I am proud to endorse Adem Bunkeddeko for Congress. We deserve a Congressmember who not only shares our values, but who will take initiative on the most critical issues facing communities like Flatbush: the need for real affordable housing and access to economic opportunities. Adem will be the proactive and engaged leader we need fighting for us in Washington,” said Pierre.
“I am thrilled to have the support of District Leader Josue Pierre and Indivisible National. This is a people-powered, grassroots campaign, and we’re working every day to ensure our community has the representation we deserve in Congress,” said Bunkeddeko. “We are in the midst of multiple crises and it’s clear that from Crown Heights to Flatbush to Marine Park, our community is ready for a Congressmember who will take the lead on the challenges we face, including housing and criminal justice reform. I am ready to deliver.”
Bunkeddeko continues to impressively build momentum with early voting already underway and just six days left until Election Day.
In addition to outraising the rest of the field, his campaign has mobilized over 100 volunteers and progressive organizations to expand voter outreach efforts. Additionally, Bunkeddeko has continued to grow his coalition of support, including The New York Times, Councilmember Carlos Menchaca, UAW Region 9A, 20 community leaders, anti-corruption activist Zephyr Teachout, Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, the Arena PAC, Empire State Indivisible, LAMBDA Independent Democrats, Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club, Leadership Now, and NYPAN.
