After serving 20 years behind bars for bank robbery, Lost Boyz founder Spigg Nice is ready to tell his story and that of his iconic hip-hop group. He’s teaming up with acclaimed filmmaker Edwin Freeman, producer and director of the critically acclaimed documentaries “Modern Day Slavery” and “Beats & Lyrics”, to produce the documentary “Diary of the Lost Boyz”, which will chronicle the Grammy-winning, platinum-selling rap group’s humble beginnings and meteoric rise to stardom.

Freeman is best known for his roles portraying hip-hop pioneer Mister Cee in the blockbuster film “Notorious” based on the life of Lost Boyz’ fallen comrade Notorious B.I.G., and Young Pop in the hit series “Marvel’s Luke Cage.” He’s the perfect filmmaker to bring the Lost Boyz’ narrative to life, hailing from the same South Jamaica, Queens neighborhood that birthed the group as well as fellow hip-hop heavyweights like Onyx, 50 Cent, and Nicki Minaj.

Production on “Diary of the Lost Boyz” kicked off earlier this month at the 25th Annual Freaky Tah Day, which honors the legacy of slain Lost Boyz co-founder Freaky Tah. The documentary will feature commentary from surviving members Mr. Cheeks, Pretty Lou, and Freaky Tah’s son Freaky Kah, who has taken his father’s place as the fourth member of the reformed group.

Interviews with family, friends from the Queens community, and celebrity guests will help highlight the Lost Boyz’ path from the streets to stardom through the lens of Spigg Nice’s personal journey. The film aims to give fans an intimate look at the triumphs and tragedies that defined one of hip-hop’s most influential groups.

With Spigg Nice’s powerful story at the heart of it, “Diary of the Lost Boyz” is shaping up to be a must-see for hip-hop heads and anyone who appreciates an against-all-odds tale of making it out of the inner city. The documentary is expected to hit theaters and streaming platforms sometime in 2025.
