Reacher Season 3 Review: A Perfect Premier With A Mind-Boggling Plot Twist

The first three episodes of Reacher Season 3 are already out and it is definitely one of the best primer any action series could ever have. The new season has already proved itself worth the wait. The episodes are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video and if you haven’t watched them yet, what are you waiting for? Reacher Season 3 is a must-watch for the fans who have already watched the first two seasons. This article brings you a detailed Reacher season 3 review. It includes an explanation of all the important developments in the plot as well as the mind-boggling plot twist.

Reacher Season 3: Overall Plot

The first three episodes of Reacher Season 3 follow the Reacher working undercover for Zachary Beck who is apparently a rug business owner. We see Reacher becoming friends with Beck’s son Richard who was scarred after being kidnapped in the past. Reacher is also seen staging up another kidnapping taking the help of Susan Duffy, Guillermo Villanueva, and Steven Elliot, his new DEA friends.

The first three episodes of the season aired with the title “Persuader,” “Truckin’,” and “Number 2 with a Bullet”. All three episodes handled the themes of deception and mystery exceptionally well. Alan Ritchson’s character seems unstoppable which makes the third season one of the best in the entire Reacher franchise. Reacher does not only have to use his wit and experience but also remain undercover in front of Beck, his security head Chapman Duke, as well as Paulie who is the gargantuan bodyguard.

Reacher Season 3 Review

One Of The Best Plot Twists Right In The Beginning

The opening scene of season 3 is a direct adaptation of the book “Persuader” that Lee Child authored in 2003. Despite the high predictability, Reacher staging a kidnapping to get to Beck is definitely one of the most surprising and smartest twists in the entire franchise. The revelation that it was all a merry deception to become friends with Beck’s son and then also hold his bodyguard hostage satisfied the fans. The execution of the first episode itself was remarkable and dramatic. Reacher, pulling out a tiny phone to call Susan and say, “I’m in,” earned our applause.

The High Stakes Make Reacher Vulnerable

Alan Ritchson’s character in the third season of the franchise is seen as far more vulnerable than the other two, which is definitely a relief. Reacher is no longer portrayed as an invincible superhero, which adds to the overall depth of his character. The stakes are all-time high, and the opposition is dangerous, which increases the pressure. Paulie’s strength and Beck’s ruthlessness add to the thrilling experience of the show.

Logical Aspects Felt Rushed

The logical aspects of the episodes, like any other thriller, felt rushed here as well. This made Reacher’s character look more robotic rather than a human. The first three episodes had Reacher becoming Beck’s head of security in a matter of a few days did not sit right logically. If you really want to enjoy the show, you will have to ignore these certain grey areas when it comes to unrealistic narrative.

The Show Is Right On Track To Become A Hit

The third season of Reacher is focused more on the present than the past. It does not have any repetitive flashbacks, unnecessary backstory, or romantic side plot filling the runtime. It also introduced Julius McCabe who is apparently a bigger threat than Paulie or Duke. Xavier Quinn, who is the ultimate target of Reacher, is also revealed to be working under a new alias.

After the first three premiere episodes of Reacher Season 3, it is safe to say the show is right on track to become a major hit. The challenges and threats Reacher has to face aren’t like anything we have seen before.
