[The White House]

Thursday, February 27, President Barack Obama will host an event at the White House to unveil his new “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative, taking action with foundations, businesses, and others to make sure that every young man of color who is willing to work hard and lift himself up has an opportunity to get ahead and reach his full potential.

In his State of the Union address – as a part of his broader commitment to advance opportunity for all Americans – the President noted:  “I’m reaching out to some of America’s leading foundations and corporations on a new initiative to help more young men of color facing tough odds stay on track and reach their full potential.”  Continuing to make good on the President’s pledge to use his pen and phone to make 2014 a year of action, the President will invite foundation leaders, corporate executives, and community leaders to this East Room event to enlist a wide cross-section in this initiative.

The event will be open press and streamed live on www.whitehouse.gov/live
