POP To Hold Vigil For Latrell Ducan Today

A candle light vigil for Latrell Ducan, a high school student and basketball player who was shot to death, will be held at the site of his murder today, Monday, October 10, 2022, 1:00 pm on the corner of Lincoln Street and Park Avenue in East Orange, New Jersey.

Latrell Duncan was a sophomore at East Orange Campus High School and a standout basketball player. He was recently killed by senseless community violence on Monday, October 3, 2022 while walking home from school.

Latrell was shot yards away from the doorway to the Robert Bowser Elementary School.

Confirmed speakers include the following: East Orange Mayor Ted Green, Lawrence Hamm (State Chairman of the Peoples Organization for Progress), Bashir Muhammad Ptah Akinyele (Community Activist / Weequachic High School History and Africana Studies Teacher in Newark), Keesha Eure (Newark Office of Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery), Dr. Cynthia Lewis (Community Activist), Marquies Kendel (Youth Advocate), Sharif Amenhotep (Brick City Peace Collective), and Baba Zayid Muhammad (Equal Justice-USA).

Family, friends, students, the youth, activists, and the community are calling all people in East Orange to attend the vigil and fight back against senseless community violence.
