The New York Times is reporting that four New York City deputy mayors plan to resign over Mayor Eric Adams’ cooperation with Donald Trump to subvert the immigration laws in the city.

The mayors are reportedly: First Deputy Mayor Maria Torres Springer; Deputy Mayor for Operations Meera Joshi; Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services Anne Williams Isom; and Chauncey Parker – who oversees public safety. The pending resignations would add to an already long list.
Adams has been embroiled in scandals for over a year–and, in September, Adams became the first New York City mayor ever to be indicted.
Adams raised further eyebrows when he traveled to Mar-a-Lago, after Trump won the November election, allegedly, to ask for a pardon, and again after he went to Trump’s inauguration. Adams has been accused of pleading with the Trump Administration to drop the DOJ charges against him in exchange for his help with Trump’s immigration schemes.

Then, last week, DOJ’s Acting US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Danielle Sassoon, revealed she was ordered to drop the charges against Adams. She made it clear she would resign if she was forced to do so, and was removed by acting U.S. deputy attorney general Emil Bove.
Subsequently, six other DOJ prosecutors also refused to drop the charges and resigned.
The reportedly pending resignations, by the deputy mayors, are happening amid growing calls from politicians, and the public, for Adams to resign–or be removed by Governor Kathy Hochul.
This is a developing story.
