WHITE PLAINS — Over a dozen clergy members joined Congressman Jamaal Bowman this morning to share their endorsement of his campaign, citing his strong moral leadership and steadfast commitment to uplifting the needs of working families as key reasons for their support. Rev. James Duckett, Rev. Dr. Stephen Pogue, Rev. Patrick Goodman, Rev. Louis, Rev. Carlton Spruill, Rev. Gene Girtman, Rev. Verlin Williams, Bishop Angelo, Rev. Debra Jenkins, Bishop Leslie Rawlings, Elder Diane Berry, Rev. James Robinson, Rev. Stephen Green, Rev. Mark Thompson, Rev. Veron House, Rev. Willie Spencer, Rev. Robert Williams, Rev. Nancy Rosario, Rev. Donna Modeste spoke alongside the Congressman and his supporters today, amplifying their congregations’ need for a strong legislative and community-focused voice in Congress.

The support of over a dozen clergy members in unison comes on the heels of Common Defense Civic Engagement, Community Voices Heard Power, and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren’s recent re-endorsement of Congressman Bowman’s campaign. Today’s coalition of over a dozen clergy members, Common Defense Civic Engagement, Community Voices Heard Power, and Senator Warren are just the most recent additions to Bowman’s strong Democratic coalition that already includes key community, state, and national leaders like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Senator Bernie Sanders, Rep. Nydia Velázquez, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, UAW, 1199 SEIU, DC37, and more – and is growing every day.

“Congressman Bowman is the champion we need in Congress,” said Pastor Mike McBride, founding member of Black Church PAC. “His commitment to peace and justice at home and abroad  is consistent with our values and we are excited to endorse his campaign to continue to serve in Congress. Now more than ever, we need moral and principled leadership on issues impacting the most vulnerable.”

“From supporting community members in their times of need to providing a spiritual torch lighting a path through darkness, clergy members and their churches play a critical role in our community,” said Congressman Jamaal Bowman. “I’m proud to receive the strong support of the dozens of clergy members who joined me in White Plains today, and proud to be endorsed by Black Church PAC. I look forward to continuing our work together to amplify the voices of the marginalized, uplift the disenfranchised, and forge a path towards a future where every voice is heard and every soul is valued.”

As the June 25 primary draws closer, the coalition supporting Bowman has grown daily, mobilizing the campaign to increase its ability to connect with voters, and empowering community members to speak with more and more fellow voters. In just the first ten days of June so far, Bowman supporters have knocked more than 26,000 doors, and made more than 295,000 calls — averaging out to 2,600 doors knocked per day, and nearly 30,000 voters called each day.
