Hey! I hope you’re having a great weekend! Can you imagine November is already coming to a close? Time sure flies, doesn’t it? I wanted to share my thoughts on today’s New York Times “Connections” game. It’s such a fun way to give your brain a workout!
How to Play Connections
So, here’s the deal: you have a grid that is full of 16 words and your task is to put them into four groups of four words related to one another. It sounds simple, but sometimes it really is a real brain teaser! Each group has its own theme. For example, one group may be about various kinds of dances, and another might be about things you can take.
I still remember the first game played with my friend Sam on the couch. There were just the two of us, munching away at popcorn, trying to solve the words together when we both ended up bursting into laughter because each silly guess was made and said. That is, however, what makes the game fun!

Today’s Nyt Connections Hints
The game gives you hints to help you out. Today, the hints are:
Yellow group: how to get your groove on (think dance moves!)
Green group: pilfer (which means to steal)
Blue group: excellent job (like doing something really well)
Purple group: catchers’ calls (related to baseball)
Let’s Break It Down
Let’s break it down a bit more! The yellow group focuses on different styles of dance. If you think of dances like JAZZ or TAP, you are spot on!
For the green group, think about how you might “lift” something or “pocket” it without anyone noticing. Sneaky, right?
The blue group focuses on doing well at something. If you ACE a test or CRUSH it in a game, those words fit perfectly!
Finally, the purple group is all about baseball pitches like CURVE and KNUCKLE.
Wrapping Up
When I finally figured out the groups with Sam, we cheered like we just scored a winning goal! It felt amazing to solve it together. If you’re stuck or need more hints, just let me know!
It’s fun to play “Connections” but also challenges our creativity and teamwork when we are playing with friends. Give it a shot today! Have you tried it yet? What do you think? I’d love to hear how it goes! This version keeps the friendly tone and structure while ensuring originality.
