Yonkers, NY – Congressman Jamaal Bowman launched what will be a seven figure broadcast campaign as part of his re-election campaign. In the video, supporters highlight what Congressman Bowman means to them while also denouncing the Republican megadonors funding Congressman Bowman’s opponent and their attacks.

In just two terms, Congressman Bowman has won over a billion dollars in funding for schools, neighborhoods, reducing gun violence, and the children of NY-16. Congressman Bowman has been a national leader on the issues that the people of the district care about most, from gun violence prevention, to combating climate change, to standing for a permanent ceasefire.

“[Congressman Bowman] is a principal,” says a former student in the video.

“A leader,” says another.

“My dad,” says Congressman Bowman’s daughter.

“I know what’s at stake,” says Congressman Bowman. “I’ve lived it. Public housing. Underfunded schools. And career politicians who don’t give a damn.”

The video is running as part of a seven figure broadcast campaign that launched on Friday.
The race has been heavily shaped by spending from AIPAC, a lobby group highly supportive of Benjamin Netanyahu’s far right government, who recruited Bowman’s opponent to run, and who recent reports show are likely to make this the most expensive primary in history. 9 out of 10 of AIPAC’s top donors are Trump supporting Republicans, and the group has endorsed 109 Congressmembers who voted to overturn the election of President Biden.

This dynamic has heavily shaped the race, with Bowman and supporters regularly calling out the challenger for relying heavily on Republican support. Despite this involvement a poll found 69% of NY-16 Democratic voters align with Congressman Bowman in supporting a ceasefire in Israel and Palestine.

Congressman Jamaal Bowman was an educator and advocate for public schools for over 20 years and previously served as principal for the Cornerstone Academy for Social Action (CASA), a public middle school he founded in 2009 in the Baychester neighborhood of The Bronx. Rep. Bowman is a life-long New Yorker who lives in Yonkers with his wife and children.
