The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said the latest Israeli massacres of civilians in Gaza, this time of at least 44 people – including a Palestinian artist – in attacks on refugee camps again demonstrate the Biden administration’s lack of respect for Arab and Muslim humanity and its complicity with genocide.
Israel killed 11 people at Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza’s Deir el-Balah. At least 33 people were killed in Israeli strikes on Jabalia refugee camp, the largest in Gaza. Some 20 of those murdered in Jabalia were women, including Palestinian artist Mahasen Al Khatib.
The far-right Israeli government has slaughtered more than 42,000 Palestinians in Gaza, mostly women and children, in the past year.
In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“No leader who is in a position to stop Israel’s daily slaughter of Palestinian men, women and children, yet not only does nothing and instead enables that genocide, can ever claim to respect the humanity of Arabs and Muslims. It is this unwillingness by the Biden administration to recognize the humanity of Arab and Muslims that has allowed the far-right Israeli government’s genocide, mass destruction, forced starvation and ethnic cleansing to not only continue, but to accelerate. This unspeakable suffering must end now.”
Yesterday, CAIR condemned the reported Israeli “double tap” targeting a child in Gaza and the rescuers who came to that child’s aid.
Video posted online shows the child in the street after being wounded by Israeli fire. When other civilians came to that child’s aid, they were targeted by Israeli forces.
Last week, CAIR said “the seemingly endless list of Israeli massacres of civilians in Gaza is the direct result of the Biden administration’s complicity with genocide.”
