New Jersey: On 54th Anniversary Of King Assassination Voting Rights March Slated

The march is being held on the 54th anniversary of the assassination Dr Martin Luther King.

The MILLION PEOPLE’S MARCH FOR VOTING RIGHTS, EQUALITY, DEMOCRACY, AND PEACE will be held today, Monday, April 4, 2022, 5:00pm, starting at the Lincoln Statue, 12 Springfield Avenue in Newark, NJ. A press conference before the march will take place 4:00pm also at the Lincoln Statue. The march is being held on the 54th anniversary of the assassination Dr Martin Luther King.

The march is sponsored by People’s Organization For Progress and has been endorsed by 139 organizations.

The march will proceed through the downtown area and end at the Martin Luther King Statue in front of the Essex County Martin Luther King Jr Justice Building, 495 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd in Newark.

“In the spirit of Dr King we are marching for the protection and expansion of voting rights, racial and social equality, economic justice, the preservation of democracy, and an end to war,” stated Lawrence Hamm, Chairman, People’s Organization For Progress.
