The Serial Killer Chooses Morgan For The “Game”

In the last episode of High Potential, we see Morgan dealing with a deadly serial killer who is causing havoc in the city. However, what makes this case unique is that the serial killer, instead of hiding from the LAPD, approached them on their own. The killer forces the LAPD into playing “games” which could save the victim’s lives. Oz managed to figure out that the killer was targeting members of a grief support group he joined after his father’s death.

The killer revealed his name as David. He also mentioned that he loves playing games with his family but his sister’s death ruined his life. Morgan’s Major Crimes Unit successfully saves two of his victims. Oz was also chosen as his next victim and almost drowned but his co-worker saved him on time.

Morgan later visits a grocery store with her kids where a kind stranger helps them out in the parking lot. On reaching home, Morgan finds a deck of cards in her bag along with a mysterious note saying “YOU’RE THE ONE, MORGAN. WE SHALL PLAY AGAIN. ME AND YOU.” Morgan is left absolutely terrified as she realizes the stranger is the killer and he is not who he claims to be.

Morgan And Karadec’s “Partnership” Gets Stronger

Adam Karadec, who is now Morgan’s partner at the Major Crimes Unit in LAPD, has definitely gotten closer to her in the last episode. The duo’s partnership has just got stronger throughout the season. We see Karadec making an effort to know about her childhood after she mentioned her bad relationship with her father. Morgan also opened up to Karadec about her dad also having HPI and how his idea of how she must act ended up isolating her.

They even shared a slow dance at the Police Gala which makes Karadec’s feelings for Morgan clear. Morgan mentioned she was going to see Gio the next day, and Karadec, like an ideal “partner,” suggested tagging along. This shows his growing protectiveness towards Morgan as he doesn’t even think twice before putting himself in a potentially dangerous situation. Morgan also lets Karadec handle Roman’s case, which is really important for her and showcases her trust in him.

The Ultimate Cliffhanger

At the beginning of season 1, Morgan does not know much about Roman’s disappearance. All she knew was he went to buy diapers for Ava and never returned. Both Morgan and Ava believed Roman would never leave them behind willingly but could never find proof. Since Morgan joined the LAPD, Karadec, and Selena also joined Morgan, helping her get to the depth of Roman’s case. When Morgan meets Gio, she gets the name “Lila Flynn” who was apparently Roman’s co-worker at the time of his disappearance.

Karadec approached Ronnie for help, who later revealed Lila Flynn was actually an FBI Agent. Lila Flynn was murdered shortly after Roman disappeared. He also revealed the biggest plot twist in the final episode of High Potential. Roman was also an FBI informant. While Morgan deals with the serial killer’s exclusive interest in her, Karadec tells her on a call that Roman Sinquerra is still alive.

Conclusion

The new information leaves both Morgan and the fans in shock. The cliffhanger leaves the audience wondering where exactly Roman was all these years. The audience is also left with multiple questions like whether Roman will return to Morgan’s life. If yes, then how will this affect her? Who exactly is the serial killer? Why is the serial killer behind Morgan? It’s going to be interesting to see how the second season will solve all these mysteries.
