(Minister Louis Farrakhan).

Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan said in a letter to his followers published in The Final Call that he is seriously ill.
He urged people to continue in his absence so that NOI will “live long after I and we have gone.”

Farrakhan, 73 years old, compared his situation to that of Fidel Castro, who yielded power to his brother Raul due to illness. “While many rejoiced — believing and thinking that if Fidel Castro and the Cuban Revolution expired they could move Cuba and the Revolution in a new direction — his absence from the helm only proved that Cuba will not fall apart over the absence or passing of their illustrious leader,” Farrakhan wrote.

The NOI minister vowed to work hard towards recovery “because I do not believe my earthly work is done.”

The NOI leader said during a visit to Cuba in March, doctors found an ulcer in his anal area. He said he has been suffering similar to 1998. That was the year he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent an operation. Farrakhan said he has lost more than 20 pounds and that he’s fighting “serious infection and inflammation.”

He said followers should be on the lookout for “crooked deceiver and hypocrite who would create confusion over my present condition.”
