McCain’s advisers were working on a strategy that they hoped to unveil the following week, but McCain had not signed off on it, and top adviser Mark Salter was resisting.

It would be a serious blow to our democracy if droves of voters, perhaps excited for the first time about their participation and choices, are turned away at the polls. Given the low voter turn-out rates we have witnessed over the past 30 years, our democracy cannot afford to disillusion people who may be participating for the first time.

Rick Davis is one of the conservative scumbags—I’m sorry, there is really no other word for it—who have made millions lobbying on behalf of special interests, both nationally and abroad, during the corrupt presidency of George W. Bush. And it is sad, almost tragic, to see the once-proud McCain stoop with him.

The Republicans have brought back the racism widely practiced in America during the civil rights days of Dr. Martin Luther King in which Africans Americans and other people of color were hated and treated as sub-humans in America. In April 2008, the media reported that members of the Ku Klux Klan in Alabama, Mississippi and South Carolina declared their support for Sen. McCain.

By any indicator–intellect, character, prudence, demeanor, or competence–Barack Obama is clearly not only head and shoulders above John McCain, but he’s one of the most impressive presidential candidates in the history of this nation. So what American voters have to decide at this pivotal point in our history, is how much do they truly love America. It’s time that we really embrace this question, instead of simply paying lip service to it.

Palin’s response reminds me of a woman who’s been caught committing adultery, then when her husband confronts her with it the next day, she tells him that he’s going to destroy their marriage if he doesn’t learn to stop dwelling on the past. The problem with that philosophy is if you never look back, you never learn anything; but the beauty of it is, you’re never held accountable for your actions–and Republicans need that accommodation desperately, because if the American people ever start looking back, their through.

The parties have asked the federal court to schedule a hearing as soon as possible and to enter an immediate temporary injunction barring further purges under these programs.

Mr. Straight Talk blows with the wind. Senator McCain can’t clean-up Washington, because he is part of the Beltway’s political cesspool. The current foreclosure crisis is an extension of the Republican deregulation movement which gave us the corporate scandals of WorldCom and Enron.
