Unite NY Executive Director Timothy Dunn issued the following statement regarding the historic federal criminal indictment against disgraced Mayor Eric Adams:
“It is disappointing, but not surprising to see yet another New York elected official brought up on serious criminal charges. The culture of corruption continues to plague New York politics and is fertile hunting ground for bad actors. The indictment of New York City Mayor Eric Adams is just the latest in what seems to be never-ending stream of elected leaders, from Governors, to State Senators, Assemblymembers, and Members of Congress, just to name a few, to embarrass their communities. New Yorkers know that our election system is in desperate need of reform – only 9% of voters think NY Is ahead of the curve when it comes to reform.
One lone bright spot on this sad day is if and when the Mayor resigns, the special election to fill his term will not only be nonpartisan, but a Ranked Choice Vote election. New York is worth saving and no matter how many politicians are arrested, Unite NY won’t stop fighting until our fellow New Yorkers have more voices and more choices.”
