The trailer indeed invokes Deja Vu in many fans as we see the workers with symbols of  PlayStation on their faces. The immense charm is seeing Seong Gi-hun confronting the black mask. Then, many more workers appear, and it is announced that “The game is not over”.

Hwang Dong-hyuk, who became the first Asian to win the Outstanding Direction Award for a Drama Series, is again ready to fascinate the audiences. He is the director, writer, and producer of Squid Game Season 2 as well. Lee Jung-jae, Gong Yoo, Wi Ha-jun, and Lee Byung-hun are back from season 1, along with Kang Ha-neul, Yim Si-wan, , Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Park Gyu-young, Kang Ae-sim, Yang Dong-geun, Won Ji, Choi Seung-Hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Lee David to make it all the more interesting and exciting.

Gi-hun was on a mission to find out the real organisers of the game in the end of Season 1. People are keen to discover how he would do that as No. 456. The path is fatal than he ever imagined, and to end the game, he needs to re-enter it.

The show is a combination of real-life incidents and fiction. The 2009 Ssangyong strike that killed 30 people brought the idea of people fighting for their lives while the narrative is based on Korean childhood games that Hwang Dong-hyuk played as a child. The show takes heavily from Japanese manga and anime and a labour protest where the police quashed heavily.

Squid Game Season 1

What first seemed to be a mishap turned out to be the reality of many developing countries where people would rather die than live a debt-ridden life. They are ready to do anything to earn money, and here, they are given a chance to earn 45.6 billion if they win. And if they don’t, they die. As simple as it sounds.

The season 1 broke all viewership records and became the first Korean series and the first foreign-language series to be nominated for a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) award. The benchmark and the expectation mark are both high for the Squid Game Season 2. It is the most awaited sequel ever, and it might as well set new headlines in the history of Netflix entertainment. It would be interesting to see Squid Game: the hellish horrorshow taking the whole world by storm again.
