The 2009 Ssangyong strike that killed 30 people brought the idea of people fighting for their lives while the narrative is based on Korean childhood games that Hwang Dong-hyuk played as a child. The show takes heavily from Japanese manga and anime and a labour protest where the police quashed heavily.
