After the Defeat of Sentinel Prime
D-16, fueled by his hatred for Sentinel Prime, the leader he admired, wanted to kill him after exposing his secret contract with the Quintessons and what happened with the Matrix of leadership Elder Primes while Orion Prime wanted to do things the right way.
Further in Transformers One, once the duo was back in Iacon, they successfully overthrew Sentinel Prime from his throne. Orion Pax plays the recordings from Airnachild that exposed him. This wasn’t enough in the eyes of D-16. He wanted to kill Sentinel Prime and started a fight with him. Orian tries to stop him which leads to D-16 shooting his friend and dropping him to the core of Cybertron accidentally.
Once Orion is gone, D-16 kills Sentinel Prime and takes Megatronus’ cog, claiming to be Megatron. Just as Megatron was about to order an attack on Cybertron to destroy all the remains of Sentinel Prime’s reign, Orion who was saved by Primus and powered by the Matrix of Leadership, emerged as Optimus Prime, leading to a clash between the former friends. Optimus Prime ends up defeating Megatron in the end, and becomes the new leader of Cybertron.
Optimus Prime as the New Leader
Optimus Prime’s rule is a stark difference from that of Sentinel Primes’. In his new reign, Optimus Prime lets the Energon flow freely as it originally did. That enabled Optimus Prime to give transformation cogs to everyone in the Cybertron. The Iacon city was now home to thousands of Autobots with freedom and transformation abilities.
Optimus also promotes Elita and deploys her to the post of Commander He also ensures that B-127’s days in sublevel 50 are over.
The Birth of Deceptions
Optimus shows mercy to his former friend and decides not to kill him. Instead, he banishes Megatron from Cybertron with the High Guard from Iacon. This decision by the new leader officially marked the end of his old friendship. Megatron, consumed by evil, tells Optimus it is not over yet.
The new leader did not want his friendship to end in blood, and banishing him gave Megatron time to rethink his decisions. However, in the post-credit scene of Transformers One, the audience sees Megatron in full charge of the High Guard members. Having the Megatronus cog in his chest, he makes the Megatronus logo the symbol of his new group. That marks the birth of Deceptions, ones who will not be deceived.

Quintessons’ Future
Optimus Prime is aware of the deal that happened between Sentinel and Quintesson. The Transformers One ends with a warning note for the alien race. It is clear that if they return, it will not end well for them. However, it would be interesting to see if they consider that warning or if they would return as a larger threat to Cybertron.
Possibility of Transformer One‘s Sequel
The Transformer One drops several hints in the plot line that can lead to a possible sequel for the animated masterpiece. Paramount has not officially declared the sequel but the buzz about another movie being launched is on. Any other film made in the future will probably center around the relationship of hostility between Optimus Prime and Megatron as Autobots and the Deceptions begin to thrive under their leadership.
The warning to Quintesson and the confirmation of the first few members of the Deceptions may also prove to be a major plotline for the upcoming movie after Transformers One. The enemies may have to unite for a greater cause and fight Quintesson to save Cybertron from doom.
