Uganda’s Bobi Wine, the major opposition figure to the rule of despotic dictator Yoweri Museveni, was reportedly shot today in the capital city of Kampala.
Wine was rushed to the Nsambya Hospital.
Wine’s party, the National Unity Platform, said an attempt was made on Wine’s life by Ugandan police. In a statement on X, the party stated that: “Our President Bobi Wine has been shot in the leg by police in Bulindo! He’s been rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention. We’ll keep the country updated on his situation.”
In 2021, the former music star turned politician ran for the Ugandan Presidency against Museveni. The Museveni regime claimed victory. However, many observers have said the vote was blatantly stolen from Wine–who is beloved by Ugandans, including the young.
Wine has since been a major thorn in the side of Museveni who has ruled Uganda with an iron-fist since January, 1986.
