The event will also feature opening remarks by Kenneth R. Feinberg, Esq. It will take place Friday, November 1, 2019, 12:00 noon, at New York Law School’s Event Center, 185 West Broadway, Manhattan.

Professor Laurence Tribe author of “To End a Presidency: The Power of Impeachment” will speak at New York Law School on November 1.

The 2019 Sidney Shainwald Public Interest Lecture will feature Laurence H. Tribe, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard Law School. Tribe’s scholarship focuses on American Constitutional Law.

Professor Tribe is the author of “To End a Presidency: The Power of Impeachment” (Hachette, 2018), with Joshua Matz. Professor Tribe is also co-founder of the American Constitution Society and author of American Constitutional Law (1978), the major treatise in that field, and has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court 36 times. Tribe will speak at New York Law School before an audience of invited guests consisting of federal and state court judges, political leaders, and those dedicated to the field of public interest.

Professor Tribe will be interviewed by Jeffrey Toobin, Esq., CNN Legal Analyst and staff writer for The New Yorker. The event will also feature opening remarks by Kenneth R. Feinberg, Esq. It will take place Friday, November 1, 2019, at 12:00 noon, at New York Law School’s Event Center, 185 West Broadway, Manhattan.

The Sidney Shainwald Public Interest Lecture Series was established in 2004 as a tribute to Sidney Shainwald’s life and work. Past speakers include: U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg; Former U.S. Senate Majority Leader George J. Mitchell; Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi; Former Secretary of State John F. Kerry; the Hon. Justice Sandra Day O’Connor (Ret.); U.S. District Court Justice Jack B. Weinstein; Former Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel; the Hon. Justice Stephen G. Breyer; the late U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA), and Kenneth R. Feinberg, Esq.

Laurence H. Tribe, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor and Professor of Constitutional Law at Harvard University, has taught at its Law School since 1968 and was voted the best professor by the graduating class of 2000. The title “University Professor” is Harvard’s highest academic honor. Professor Tribe has prevailed in three-fifths of the many appellate cases he has argued (including 35 in the U.S. Supreme Court); was appointed in 2010 by President Obama and Attorney General Holder to serve as the first Senior Counselor for Access to Justice. He has written 115 books and articles, most recently, To End A Presidency: The Power of Impeachment (co-authored with Joshua Matz). His treatise, American Constitutional Law, has been cited more than any other legal text since 1950.
