Canada’s eminent Roots Reggae chanter, Nkrumah, shined at his Saturday Night Rockers showcase at BSMT 254. Backed by Dub Chronicles, Nkrumah’s talent was well received by fans.
On Saturday January 31st, Roots Reggae Chanter Nkrumah ended the month by performing Roots Reggae to a capacity audience. Recently released songs such as “Congo,” “The Righteous Ah Come” and “Rockers Arena” warmed the hearts of attendees while lyrics such as “the Congo anointed / Congo read, Congo write / Congo nuh dumb / Congo bright….” The lyrics speak to the misconception people place on others by judging the outward appearance.
Takin to social media, Nkrumah thanked fans for attending the event, and made special mention saying, “it feels good to be honored in my own home city.” Guests who attended the event also thanked Nkrumah for performing. One fan said, ‘the vibration was high and we were all in one accord that Saturday night.’
In addition to Nkrumah’s live performance, fans purchased the artist’s custom merchandise. His name, adorned in gold, is placed within the outline of the continent of Africa which symbolizes solidarity with the motherland, and unity we all share no matter where we call home.
Nkrumah’s newest single, “The Righteous Ah Come,” produced by Hawaii’s Mmaps Athletics premiered at UK-based Lion Vibes Record Shop. Broadcasting on social media, Lion Vibes played the vinyl 45 of the song while letting fans know there are limited copies available. About the project, Nkrumah said “I like the vibes in the chune and I really like the love and support it receives from people around the world. Big up Mmaps!”
The Roots Reggae momentum continues with Nkrumah receiving radio spins from Doctor Def and Richard Banton from Canada, Channel One Sound System and MixmasterJ from the UK, as well as DJ Mannerz from the Bronx, New York.
