As part of its sustainable energy drive, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is accelerating efforts to advance electric mobility across the Region, increasing awareness, guidance, and uptake of electric vehicles (EVs).

CARICOM is pressing ahead with EV adoption, with some Member States already demonstrating strong progress. To address growing interest and information gaps around EV benefits, costs, maintenance, utility, and end-of-life management, electric mobility featured prominently during CARICOM Energy Month (CEM) in November 2025.

Programme Manager, Energy, at the CARICOM Secretariat, Ms. Sandra Britton, placed EVs in context of the Region’s sustainable energy thrust during an exposition on the grounds of the CARICOM Secretariat late November: https://bit.ly/3ZTRd76

A series of high-level webinars during the month of activities examined the current state and outlook of electric mobility in the Community, while Ministers also discussed the revision and implementation of the Regional Electric Vehicle Strategy at the 120th Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) on Energy in December, which Senator the Hon. Lisa Cummins, Minister of Energy and Business Development of Barbados, chaired.

The CEM 2025 Webinars, which focused on Electric Mobility and Sustainable Energy, can be accessed here:
