Rev. Al Sharpton and his National Action Network (NAN) have announced that on August 28th, thousands of demonstrators will march in Wall Street’s financial district to protest against Donald Trump’s attacks on civil rights and DEI initiatives.

The march will be the first Black-led large demonstration since Trump has recaptured the White House. Martin Luther King III will be co-chair of the march, which will coincide with the anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington.

Rev. Sharpton spoke about the upcoming march.

“Corporate America wants to walk away from Black communities, so we are marching to them to bring this fight to their doorstep,” said Rev. Al Sharpton. “DEI is the civil rights fight of our generation, and will make the difference in what the future of America looks like. That’s exactly why Donald Trump has launched a pressure campaign against DEI so companies will walk away from billions of dollars in commitments. On August 28th, as we commemorate the March on Washington, we will continue the fight by taking it to Wall Street.”

Sharpton, and his National Action have been long been involved in the fight against anti-DEI advocates. Beginning in early 2024, weekly protests have been staged at the office of hedge fund billionaire Bill Ackman, in Manhattan. Ackman led efforts to remove Harvard’s first Black president Claudine Gay.

Earlier this year, NAN engaged in “buy-cotts” in support of Costco, for their refusal to ditch their DEI commitments under pressure from conservatives and Trump.
