Top 10 Black Female WWE Wrestlers Who Ruled the 2000s

The WWE is thriving today because of the amazing Black female talent. They’re making big moves in wrestling. They bring athleticism, great storytelling and presence Black female WWE wrestlers to every performance. These Black WWE women are the standard for excellence and diversity in sports entertainment. 

Jazz and Sharmell paved the way for women’s wrestling. Sasha Banks led the Women’s Evolution with her charm and skill. They’re proving they can keep up and even surpass the men. These Black female WWE women are giving us matches and stories for the ages. They’re redefining what a WWE superstar looks like today and tomorrow.

1. Jacqueline Moore

 She was 14 women’s champion in the United States Wrestling Association. In WCW, she managed Kevin Sullivan and later Harlem Heat

WWF/WWE Accomplishments 

She joined the WWF in 1998 and managed Mark Meri with passion. Moore formed the Pretty Mean Sisters with Terry Runnels and Ryan Shamrock in 1999. Moore won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, the only woman to do so in WWE history.

TNA Career and Hall of Fame

In 2004, she joined TNA as a manager and occasional wrestler. She brought fire and experience to every role in the company. WWE inducted her into the Hall of Fame on April 2, 2016.

2. Jazz

Jazz built her reputation with fierce matches in Extreme Championship Wrestling. She impressed fans with her toughness and unmatched intensity in every fight.

WWE Championship Success

Jazz joined WWE and won the Women’s Championship twice. She dominated her opponents with strength, skill, and raw power. She proved she belonged among wrestling’s elite with every defense.

NWA Leadership and Impact Wrestling

Jazz held the NWA World Women’s Championship for over 900 days. She leads the NWA women’s division as a producer and head of talent. She also competed in Impact Wrestling before retiring from in-ring action.

3. Alicia Fox 

 On her debut storyline, she was a wedding planner, something that gave color to the show. She later went back to ECW and managed DJ Gabriel with the real attitude.

Reality Television and Current Role

She joined Total Divas as a main cast member in 2014. Now she works in TNA as Deputy Director of Authority using her real name. She also works on the indie circuit as Vix Crow.

4. Krystal Marshall

Kristal Marshall joined WWE in 2005. She quickly got into a feud with Jillian Hall and won her first match on SmackDown. 

Storylines and Memorable Moments 

Kristal turned face in 2007 and became on-screen besties with Vickie Guerrero. She flirted with SmackDown GM Theodore Long and convinced him to hire Guerrero. Their romance led to a planned wedding on SmackDown with plenty of drama. Kristal brought sass, big storylines and real energy to the women’s division.

5. Shaniqua (Linda Miles)

In 2002, Linda Miles won WWE. WWE gave her a developmental contract, and she started their wrestling career. Miles debuted on WWE Velocity against Ivory with Gayda at ringside. Gayda turned heel by pushing Miles off the top rope and costing her the match. Due to Gayda’s mistakes, WWE sent both to Ohio Valley Wrestling for more training.

Shaniqua and Managing the Basham Brothers

Shaniqua was dominant and villainous and interfered in their matches often. She feuded with Torrie Wilson, Dawn Marie and Nidia with lots of energy. Also she won another match against Dawn Marie by DQ after interference.

6. Naomi

Naomi lights up WWE with her bright style and her energetic persona, “The Glow.”.She brings color, movement and fun to every match. And she’s confident, resilient and positive and inspires fans worldwide.

Joining WWE and Early Success

In August 2009, Naomi signed with WWE and joined Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). She joined season 3 of NXT in 2010 and finished runner-up.

She entertained fans with her dancing, flair and growing in-ring skills. In 2014-2015, she managed The Usos during their tag team run.

A Stand and WWE Exit

In 2022, Naomi and Banks walked out of WWE due to a creative dispute. They were suspended indefinitely after leaving a major Raw event. In 2023, Naomi confirmed her WWE departure and joined TNA Wrestling.

Champion Beyond WWE

Naomi joined TNA and won the Knockouts World Championship in her first year. She proved herself in another top promotion with her passion and talent.

7. Layla El

She also appeared with Kanye West at the MTV Music Awards. In 2006, she briefly participated in the WWE Diva Contest and clinched a WWE contract.

WWE Debut and Partners

Layla debuted on SmackDown and then moved to ECW in 2007. She joined Extreme Exposé with Kelly Kelly and Brooke Adams and danced for the crowd. In 2008, she moved to Raw and managed William Regal with sass.

8. Lena Yada

Lena Yada entered WWE through the 2005 Diva Search, made the Top 30. She tried again in 2007, made the final 8 and finished 3rd. WWE signed her in November 2007 after her strong showing in the competition. 

ECW Role and Storylines

WWE moved her to ECW soon after her SmackDown appearance. Yada also served as a valet for Victoria and Layla during this time.

In-Ring Debut and WWE Departure

She trained for in-ring action at Ultimate Pro Wrestling in California. At Cyber Sunday, she entered the Halloween Costume Contest dressed as a Ninja. Lena made her televised in-ring debut in a 16-wrestler tag match on Raw. Beth Phoenix won the match, but Yada never tagged in before the victory. 

9. Alica Taylor

Alicia Warrington had a successful career as a drummer. She’s played for Kate Nash, Kelly Osbourne, Selena Gomez and Tracy Chapman. Rock bands, pop acts and TV shows like Hannah Montana. She’s proven herself across many styles and performances. 

WWE Ring Announcing Journey 

In December 2018, she joined WWE and became Alicia Taylor. She announced for NXT until May 7, 2024, then moved to SmackDown. Alicia is still shining with her clear voice and presence in WWE.

10. Angel Williams

Angel Williams tried out for WWE in June 2004. She trained at Ohio Valley Wrestling and signed a developmental contract. WWE sent her to Deep South Wrestling to train and compete. Williams managed The Gymini until they were released in early 2007. She feuded with Krissy Vaine and then became Co-GM of DSW. When DSW closed, she went to Ohio Valley Wrestling and won a match there.

Independent Circuit (2007)

After WWE, Williams went to AAA in Mexico as Canadian Angel. Also she wrestled for NWA: Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling. She appeared in Full Throttle Wrestling; she loves the sport. Williams kept wrestling and proving herself on the indies.
