Yankees’ CC Sabathia, his wife Amber, mother Margie and four children hosted a Backpack Giveaway at Joseph H. Wardlaw Elementary School in his hometown of Vallejo, California.

The Yankees ace, and his family, handed out backpacks filled with school supplies, visit with the students, and took photos. The Backpack Giveaway is one of three marquee events Sabathia’s PitCCh In Foundation hosts every year in addition to field renovations and baseball clinics.

This was Sabathia’s first time personally handing out backpacks in California, as his foundation visits the area annually to hand out the bags and supplies to students. Additionally, all first and second graders in the entire school district will receive backpacks (about 3,000 in total)!

Sabathia is in his final season with the New York Yankees after 19 incredible years playing in the major leagues. His philanthropic initiatives and work in the community only add to his #LegaCCy season.
