In the fourth game of the World Series, which was played against the Yankees, Dodgers pitcher Shohei Ohtani began as a pinch-hitter on the 29th. His initial hit in 13 at-bats came in the fifth inning when he singled to center field. Yet, after allowing 11 runs, the team failed the game. There are currently three wins and one loss over the game. “We’ve questioned him numerous times, but it’s not hurting his form,” manager Dave Roberts responded when questioned regarding Ohtani’s condition during the news conference held after the game. He emphasizes that he is not affected by his left shoulder by saying, “He doesn’t feel it.”

Ohtani launched a liner to center base off left-hander Hill in the 5th inning with the runner on first with one eliminated. After 13 at-bats and 3 games, he got his first hit. After he subluxated his left shoulder in Game 2 on the 26th, it was his very first hit. The ball traveled at 103.8 mph, or almost 167.0 km/h. He nevertheless hit the fly ball on the right field in his initial at-bat, a straight ball to center field in his 3rd, and a swinging strikeout in his 4th. Only once did he make it to base.

“I believe he’s chasing balls,” said manager Roberts as he issued the instructions. At some crucial moments, he had the opportunity to walk balls, but he chose not to.

Ball chasing is not a smart idea. However, he ran with something else than usual when he got to base, clutching his left arm to his chest as though to steady it. “So far, I believe he’s doing okay,” the manager went on. Today, he performed a slide. For base running, the shoulder ailment is not a problem. He will not, however, steal bases. He most likely won’t. Right now, I am not sure it’s a major problem. Freeman’s 4th two-run home run of the 4 consecutive games put the team ahead in the initial inning.

Considering the 2021 season while he appeared with the Braves, it was the initial time in history when a player hit 6 consecutive games in a World Series. They came across 1 run at one point, though, after giving up a big slam to Volpy in the 3rd inning to turn the flow of the game. Yet they allowed Wells to hit a solo homer, and in the 8th inning, they allowed 5 runs in a single inning, such as a 3-run homer by Torres along with solid baserunning by Volpy, for a total of 11 runs. However, the team used a bullpen game that day, so they might not have used pitchers like Treinen since they had already lost the lead.
