Today’s Wordle Answer for May 12 ,2025
Wordle #1423 Answer for Monday, May 12th is: BICEP
Yes, today’s word is BICEP—that flex-worthy muscle we all try to show off at the beach (or in the mirror after lifting a bag of groceries just a little too dramatically).
Wordle Analysis
Let me walk you through how I solved today’s puzzle.
I opened with the word TIDAL, mostly on instinct. It gave me a green ‘I’ right away—solid start. My next move was SIREN, aiming to test common letters like ‘S’, ‘R’, and ‘N’. That guess eliminated a lot of fluff and narrowed things down significantly.
From there, I had a hunch. Only a handful of five-letter words with ‘I’ in the second spot and certain eliminated letters made sense. And then it hit me: BICEP. Boom—solved in three!
Competitive Wordle Scoring
For those of you playing Competitive Wordle like I do, here’s how it works:
- Guess in 1: 3 points
- Guess in 2: 2 points
- Guess in 3: 1 point
- Guess in 4: 0 points
- Guess in 5: -1 point
- Guess in 6: -2 points
- Fail to guess: -3 points
And if you’re competing with someone else:
- Win: +1 point
- Tie: 0 points
- Lose: -1 point
Today, I guessed the word in three tries, tying the Wordle Bot. That gives me 1 point for my performance and 0 for the tie.
So far for May:
- Me: 12 points
- Wordle Bot: 6 points
Let’s see how long I can keep the lead!

Wordle Etymology
Let’s dig into today’s word a little deeper.
Bicep stems from the Latin word biceps, combining bis meaning “twice” and caput meaning “head.” The name reflects the muscle’s two points of origin (or “heads”) on the shoulder. This term entered anatomical terminology in the 17th century and became commonplace in English usage by the 19th century.
Technically, the singular form is still biceps (like “scissors” or “pants”), but most people now use “bicep” in the singular to refer to just one of those beach-ready muscles.
