The WNBA Atlanta Dream team will reportedly be getting rid of their hated co-owner former Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler–and LeBron James has expressed an interest in buying into the team.

A WNBA spokesperson told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that, “As it relates to the Atlanta Dream, we understand a sale of the franchise is close to being finalized. Once the sale negotiation is concluded, additional information will be provided.”

In a January 6th tweet, LeBron showed interest in buying Loeffler 49 percent ownership stake in the team saying, “Think I’m gone put together an ownership group for the The Dream. Whose in?”

Loeffler, who denounced the Black Lives Matter movement during last year’s racial justice protests by athletes, was roundly rebuked by the mostly Black players on the Atlanta Dream. Team members, and other WNBA players, started to wear “Vote Warnock” shirts before games, in reference to Rev. Raphael Warnock.

Warnock beat Loeffler in the recent Jan 5th Georgia runoff election.
