Wicked: For Good or Wicked 2 has a new update for its Wicked 2 casting update audience regarding its new cast. According to the makers, two characters from the original screenplay of Wicked will not be returning for the sequel of the hit movie. The audience must be excited to know that these characters include Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who are coming to the Land of Oz as Glinda and Elphaba for their musical adventure.
However, in an interview, Kristin Chenoweth revealed which of the two characters might not be returning to the show. She has hinted at her absence in the sequel as a cameo. In addition, she has also indicated that it might happen that you may not see Idina Menzel in the upcoming sequel of Wicked due to no use of their characters in the future show.

The main characters of the movie were Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who,o together with the other members, made this musical journey memorable. The other members also included Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel, who were invited for their cameos in the movie.
Note that neither actresses were given any name in the movie due to their short and fun roles. Their characters were popularised because of their humorous pact in the movie but were never considered crucial. Thus, in the revival of this movie, it was quite justified why the two are not bound to return in the next sequel. Moreover, the new movie also shows softer and more emotional music as compared to the previous movie. This indicates a new storyline for the movie, which opens up to the end of The Wizard of Oz. With so much going on, there is no possibility of bringing back those two characters in the story.

Why a New Cast for the Story?
The characters of Kristin and Idina were more like a bonus Easter treat, which was brought to bring extra fun to the movie. However, bringing the same characters again in the story would take away that essence. Thus, bringing a new cast was a good option to attract and excite the audience. How much we loved the previous cast, bringing up a new cast in a new story will always bring new surprises and interesting additions to the storyline.
