The Space Movie

“Gayniggers From Outer Space” is a Danish English-language short science fiction satirical movie. It is written and directed by Danish director Morten Lindberg, also known as Master Fatman. The film mocks the science fiction and blaxploitation genres.

Despite its surprising and controversial title, the movie has been a source of discussion in the science-fiction genre throughout the years.

The Plot

There is a group of homosexual black men on an outer planet Anus who discover the presence of female creatures on Earth. It is unfamiliar to them as their Planet, Anus, doesn’t have any females. They proceed to Earth to eradicate the planet from females and to offer peace to the so-called oppressed Men of Earth. They use rayguns to free the planet from the female population. After their successful mission, they educate the male population about their new way of living before leaving Earth. The intergalactic homosexual men leave a “Gay Ambassador” to teach the Men of the planet.

The Science Movie is 26 minutes long. It was screened in black and white color, but at the film’s end, the screen turned to natural colors. The color change had a dramatic effect, symbolic of creating a new Earth that was free from the evil female population.

The Cast of the movie

  • Sammy Saloman as Capt. B. Dick

Director’s review

In one of the interviews, the film’s director, Morten Lindberg, was asked about the movie. He mentioned that the movie was an attempt at the Blaxploitation genre. They wanted to bring a short science-fiction film on their own time in the Blaxploitation genre. He said that he was always interested in homosexual and black people as well.

When asked whether the Science Movie has a social criticism or social message, Morten Lindberg said that the film has a deeper meaning on many levels. Denmark, from where the director is not a racism-free country. They wanted to make a film dealing with taboo topics.

The film is not currently on any platforms, but the director said people might get a copy from the Danish Film Workshop.

Beyond the Film’s Title

The Film has gained a cult status among the science-fiction genre films over all these years. Its infamous yet cult status lies in the mockery of the short science fiction genre and its comedic effects. The Space Movie is famous even if it comes among one of the references for the outlandish movies ever made.

Despite its controversial title, the audience should understand the film’s satire and the circumstances around which it was made. The intention to include taboo topics in a 1992 film was quite provocative and a bold decision. Taboo topics such as Racism, homosexuality, and Black men are still controversial topics even in 2024, so to include them in a 1992 film is a significant statement of its time.
