Wayne Osmond, the second-oldest member of the iconic music group The Osmonds, left for his heavenly abode at 73. The famous musician suffered a massive stroke and took his last breath in Salt Lake City. Wayne Osmond’s brother and former fellow member, Merrill Osmond, confirmed his death on Facebook. Merrill also mentioned that he was lucky enough to greet him for the last time before Wayne Osmond died. Who was Wayne Osmond?

Wayne Osmond was birth on the 28th of August 1951 in Ogden, Utah. He was born to George Virl Osmond and Olive May as their fourth-eldest child. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wayne got married to Kathlyn White, former Miss Utah, in December 1974. Wayne had three daughters and two sons with Kathlyn. He also held a pilot licence due to which he got his nickname “Wings”. He actively flew many aircraft until he was physically unable to. He was one of the original members of the family music group popular with the name The Osmonds. 

Wayne Osmond Splendid Career As A Musician

Wayne Osmond as a musician first started performing in a barbershop quarter. He was accompanied by three of his brothers; Alan, Merrill, and Jay. The group then started signing for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. However, the group gained the recognition it craved when they started performing at Disneyland. The brothers made their debut on the television screens through ABC’s The Lawrence Welk Show. Donny and Jimmy joined the group as they were featured in The Andy Williams Show. Their first major breakthrough was the single One Bad Apple that hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The group sold around 75 million records across the globe and Wayne played a vital role in its success.

Wayne Osmond Cause Of Death 

Wayne Osmond suffered a massive stroke that took his life on the 1st of January 2025 at 73. According to the family’s statement, he died peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and five children. At the time of his death, he was in Salt Lake City, Utah. The family’s official statement did not initially disclose the cause of his demise. However, Wayne’s brother Merrill took to Facebook and confirmed that his brother suffered from a major stroke. 

Wayne Osmond: Prior Health Complications 

This was not the first time Wayne Osmond suffered a life-threatening stroke. The musician had major health complications in the past as well. In 2007, Wayne had to leave the family music group, after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The illness was treated successfully. However, his Cochlea endured major damages that affected his hearing. He then suffered a stroke in 2012. The stroke did not take his life but definitely took his ability to play his favorite guitar. 

Brothers’ Tributes on Wayne Osmond Death

Merrill through his tribute to his brother on Facebook expressed his grief. Merrill wrote on the social media platform that his brother was a saint before he was born and would leave as an even greater one. He also mentioned that his brother was forgiving and carried unconditional love for all. Doyne also paid his tribute to his dear brother. He mentioned that Wayne was the ultimate optimist and everyone loved him. He explained that his brother lit up everyone’s world, bringing laughter and love to all, especially him. 

Wayne Osmond Family Statement 

Amy Osmond Cook, Wayne’s daughter, took her Instagram and issued an official statement about her father’s demise. She mentioned in her statement that her father’s legacy of faith, music, and love influenced many lives across the globe. She also mentioned that Wayne would like everyone to know that Jesus Christ’s gospel is true, that families are forever, and that banana splits are the best dessert. She also expressed her love for her father and that she will miss him dearly.
