Reggae singer Rik Jam (Ronaldo Ricketts) recently released a visual for the song ‘Beautiful,’ his take on the great song by Mali Music.

Jam hails from the Fletcher Land and Stadium Gardens areas in Jamaica. Jam says: “My love for music started from the very tender age of 8 when I would actively participate in all the singing activities at church. However, my passion for music blossomed when I entered my teenage years.”

At 15, while attending St Andrew Technical High School he said, “I decided to join the school [as lead vocalist] choir. As I participated in various rehearsals and live performances I quickly realized that music was my life goal. I felt a passion within me each time I sang, I did not just want to voice the words of a song but I wanted my music to speak to my audience.”

At 16, Jam participated in Jamaica’s Best School Band competition. He said, “The high school band competition taught me discipline and this was my favorite lesson learnt, as well as patience as my guide to take that step into the professional world.”

Jam cites Bob Marley as an influence and says he is, “I am guided by the words of Bob Marley ‘When the root is strong, the fruit is sweet.”

Jam started recording with his first song “Love Never Lost” which led to the start of him performing at various events and doors started to open for the young artist.
