On Monday, September 23, 2019, Congressman Al Green attended By the People’s Mock Impeachment Hearing, “The People vs. Donald Trump.”
At the event, he made the following statement:
“Our nation owes a debt of gratitude to By the People for focusing our attention on the impeachable atrocities committed by President Trump. Not only should he be impeached, he should have been impeached some time ago. And while the President should be held accountable for his misdeeds, we must not forget that the framers of the Constitution provided Congress the ultimate remedy for an out-of-control president, who abuses his power with obstruction and by infusing bigotry into policy, harmful to society.
“We are at the crossroads of accountability. At some point, Congress must hold President Trump accountable or Congress will be held accountable. The longer we wait, the greater the likelihood that Congress will be held accountable for failure to hold President Trump accountable. We must impeach now.”
