A press conference to condemn the grand jury decision not to indict the Newark police officer that shot and killed Carl Dorsey and to announce further legal action will be held Monday, January 30, 2023, 11:00am, outside of the Federal Building, 970 Broad Street in Newark, New Jersey.

The press conference is being called by members of the family of Carl Dorsey, their attorney, and the People’s Organization For Progress.

The press conference is being held at the Rodino Federal Building where the office of the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey is located.

Attorney Robert Tarver will call upon U.S. Attorney Philip R. Selling er to launch a civil rights investigation into the death of Mr. Dorsey.

“The decision by the grand jury in the Carl Dorsey case, in the face of indisputable evidence that he was unarmed when he was shot and killed by that officer, was a grave injustice. We believe Mr Dorsey’s civil rights were violated and call upon the U.S. Attorney to launch an investigation,” stated Lawrence Hamm, Chairman, People’s Organization For Progress.
