Senator Bernie Sanders Endorses Jamaal Bowman For Reelection

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders endorsed Congressman Jamaal Bowman for re-election in New York’s 16th Congressional District.

Yonkers, NY – Today, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders endorsed Congressman Jamaal Bowman for re-election in New York’s 16th Congressional District. Senator Sanders’ endorsement of Bowman’s 2020 insurgent primary campaign was a key turning point in the race. In Washington, Senator Sanders and Congressman Bowman have partnered on several initiatives, including The Ending Corporate Greed Act to crack down on pandemic profiteering and corporate greed to lower prices for working Americans.

“I am so proud to endorse Congressman Bowman for re-election,” said Senator Bernie Sanders. “We need more progressive champions in Congress who are committed to ensuring that the large, profitable corporations that have been ripping off working families are held accountable. Congressman Bowman has been a critical partner in this fight for working families and I look forward to continuing our work together.”

Senator Sanders’ endorsement adds to the growing list of prominent elected officials lining up behind Congressman Bowman’s re-election campaign.

So far, Congressman Bowman has earned the support of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ayanna Pressley, as well as a slew of local elected officials, including Hastings-on-Hudson Mayor Nicola Armacost and Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard.

Congressman Bowman has also been endorsed by powerful unions and other groups, such as the Working Families Party, Communications Workers of America, The Jewish Vote, the Sunrise Movement, Community Voices Heard Power, Make the Road, NARAL, Brady PAC, the Council of School Supervisors & Administrators (CSA), NYPAN, NYIC, 1199 SEIU, AFSCME District Council 37, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the Arab American Democratic Action Fund, New York State Nurses Association, the New York State United Teachers, and more.
