Ugandan dictator Gen. Yoweri Museveni’s son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, a senior advisor to his father has threatened leading presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, a.k.a. Bobi Wine. Even though it was his father’s security forces that manhandled Bobi Wine.
Gen. Kainerugaba warned in a tweet that presidential hopeful Kyagulanyi of the National Unity Platform who was nominated Tuesday ahead of the 2021 elections will be defeated should he opt for violence in his presidential bid. “I told you, my young brother, that you can NEVER intimidate us. We are much stronger than you can ever imagine being. If you want to fight we will simply defeat you. We want peace! But if you attempt to fight us then bring it on” the general spewed such balderdash on his twitter handle.
The tweet came minutes after Kyagulanyi was brutally arrested from his car immediately after he had been nominated to stand for president in the forthcoming elections. Kyagulanyi had, after nomination, promised to increase the salaries of the security officers when he is elected president. Gen. Kainerugaba praised the men in uniform for “putting him in his place”—referring to the violent arrest of Kyagulanyi. Following the assault, the U.S. Department of State in a statement to Black Star News said “we will weigh consequences for those individuals who interfere in the democratic process or who are responsible for election-related violence.”
“Indeed it is not by surprise that is why he said and emphasized to increase the salaries of the security men because they are doing a better job just like an hour ago to position him well back on track,” the presidential son posted on his twitter handle.
Gen. Kainerugaba, just like his superannuated father and other loud-mouthed men in uniform are fond of glorifying violence and pogrom against Ugandans. They are accustomed to walking away free because the commander in chief—dictator Museveni—promotes these abuses. Museveni employs violence to fight against unarmed and peaceful opposition candidates.

The biggest opposition party candidate is the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). The party’s presidential flag-bearer, Patrick Oboi Amuriat was brutally arrested in the morning when he also tried to access his office to pick his nomination documents. Even his shoes were stolen by the Police operatives who arrested him. They forcefully drove him to Kyambogo University grounds where he was nominated, barefoot.
