Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the United States

Your Excellency
Our Esteemed Leader, Brother and Friend.
The news of your appointment to one of the highest diplomatic assignments by the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Maada Julius Bio has been reverberating throughout the African Diaspora community ever since it was made public about two months ago. Now it has been made official by unanimous approval of the Parliament. Over this time you have been inundated with well-deserved congratulatory messages and good wishes from a very grateful Diaspora constituency that has been so well served by your leadership.
Your official confirmation this week by the Parliament of the Republic of Sierra Leone as the Ambassador to the United States and the other countries to which you are accredited is a positive affirmation of the decades-long diplomatic service you have been rendering ex officio. Among your many achievements, you have encouraged Sierra Leonean and other African and Caribbean Missions to the United Nations to forge close and collaborative relationship with their Diaspora communities in New York City and throughout the United States. Your leadership of the United African Congress that you helped found and have led effectively as its President and Chief Spokesperson for more than two decades has been part of what made the UAC the go-to Pan African organization in the United States on matters germane to the African Diaspora and the continent of Africa.
President Bio, the government and people of Sierra Leone will be well served by you assuming this position. Soon they will see what we, your loyal friends and colleagues have seen over so many years: the gem they have in you as head of one of the most consequential diplomatic posting in the world. As your friends and team in the United African Congress, we relish in the well-deserved high honor that has been bestowed on you by your country of birth. We feel privileged and honored to be associated with you in the United African Congress on your long journey advocating for the African Diaspora, for good governance and rule of law in Africa and for peace and justice around the world.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Board of the United African Congress it is our distinct honor and pleasure to express heartfelt congratulations. We look forward to the day when we can honor you with the appropriate welcome home to the U.S. and a sendoff on the next step in your journey that is in keeping with your being a most esteemed diplomat and good friend.
