A town hall meeting with U.S. Senate candidate Lawrence Hamm will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024, 2:00pm at All Pros Lounge, 53 Virginia Avenue, Jersey City, New Jersey.

Hamm a social justice activist and chairman of the People’s Organization For Progress, is running against Senator Robert Menendez, the incumbent who has been indicted for corruption and conspiring to act as a foreign agent for Egypt.
He will be running in the New Jersey Democratic Primary Election which will take place in June of next year. He filed as a candidate with the Federal Election Commission in September.
“I look forward to meeting and talking with people at this event on Saturday. I plan to discuss my reasons for running and major aspects of my platform,” Hamm stated.“I am grateful to those Jersey City residents who put it together.”
Among them are members of the family of Andrew Washington III who was killed Jersey City police.
The event is being held on January 13th two days before the actual birthday of Martin Luther King. Dr King’s birthday and the national holiday both occur on the same day this year.
“I am going to discuss my campaign within the context of the Dr King’s fight for Civil Rights and the ongoing fight for racial and economic justice going on today,” Hamm said. “One of the issues Dr King focused on was police brutality. This problem is still with us today. In fact, the police in the U.S. killed 1200 people last year. This is the highest number yet.”
“Among that number was Andrew Washington who was a resident of Jersey City. At the town hall meeting I plan to discuss the struggle against police brutality and the fight for justice for Andrew Washington and other victims,” Hamm added. “I have been involved in struggles against police brutality for fifty years. As a U.S. Senator I will continue this fight within the halls of Congress. It will be a top priority issue along with employment, housing, healthcare, education, reparations, voting rights, racial equality and other important issues.”
