Americans are incensed at news that Donald Trump is wrecking part of the White House, to build an entertainment ballroom. The outrage against what is seen as a desecration is understandable given the historic iconic nature of the White House, and how it is symbolically visualized by Americans.

However, why should we be so surprised by this since Trump is currently using a metaphorical wrecking ball to destroy America, as we know it?
On Monday, news emerged that the White House’s East Wing is being torn down to build Trump’s $250 million dollar ballroom. Even some establishment conservative voices, are angrily saying that Trump is demolishing the White House’s East Wing with a wrecking ball.
The wrecking ball analogy is ironic given Trump’s tyrannical, now ongoing, destruction of the checks and balances of America’s institutional frameworks—not to mention the American Constitution.
Trump has engaged in a partisan purge of government workers reportedly taking aim at those who didn’t vote for him, especially African Americans, women, and other minorities. In recent months, over 300,000 Black women have lost their government jobs. Trump is also using the Republican-orchestrated government shutdown to threaten the jobs of other federal workers and target what he calls “Democrat programs.”
Trump is now busy subverting the “rule of law,” that Republicans claimed they care about, while they cheer him on. Trump has called for the impeachment of judges who ruled against him. Moreover, some judges are receiving death threats because of Trump. And, Trump clearly has no problem disregarding legal rulings that he doesn’t like.
We now have Trump using his partisan Department of Justice to indict his political enemies. New York Attorney General Letitia James; former FBI Director James Comey; and former National Security Advisor John Bolton have all been indicted recently. Former CIA Director John Brennan and California Senator Adam Schiff are apparently next in line to face malicious prosecution.
Republicans, is this the way your president shows respect for “the rule of law?”

Over the years, we’ve all heard Republicans tell us they believe in “small government” and “states’ rights.” But somehow these fraudulent liars are now in agreement as Trump sends National Guard troops into blue cities and states like: California, Chicago, D.C., Portland and Illinois—where the mayors and governors are in overwhelming opposition to Trump’s invasion of their jurisdictions. Trump is now also threatening to send troops into San Francisco, and he has already made it known he intends to do the same in places like Baltimore and New York City.
Trump’s ICE agents are now racially terrorizing not only undocumented immigrants but non-white American residents as well. These masked thugs are now busy assaulting non-violent citizens, including women, with the full blessings of this lawless administration.
Is there any wonder then why these ICE bullies feel empowered to behave brutally?
Ominously, Trump is also encouraging partisan violence, not just through his immigration incitement, but by his attacks on those “others” that his MAGA maniacs believe are not real Americans, who they want to “take back the country” from. This means anyone who isn’t white and Republican. Trump’s pardoning of the Jan. 6 rioters was done strategically—because these criminals are part of his domestic white nationalist army.
Many of these fanatics fantasize of having a “race war” where they can mass murder those they have always hated since the founding of the nation: Black Americans.
Last weekend, at least 7 million people participated in the second ‘No Kings’ march to protest Trump’s tyranny and thuggery. Given the rising authoritarianism of Trump’s Administration it may very well take more Americans becoming involved in intense political actions to stop Trumpism in its tracks, before he does further damage to the country.
All the indicators show us that Trump is doing serious harm to America.
Trump’s tariff policies are wrecking the economy. Through his disrespect for judges and the courts, he is wrecking the legal system. Through his divisiveness he is sparking more chaos and disunity among the citizenry. Trump is turning the so-called “American Dream” into a racist, right-wing, fascist nightmare.
America’s apocalypse seems to be happening right now, as we witness Donald Trump wrecking the republic before our very eyes.
