Halloween 2024 promises to be a spectacle of creativity and silliness as celebrities go on a roll to celebrate the horror months. From winking at the classics to creating creative pop culture references, these costumes are as creative as they are varied this Halloween. Let’s take a closer look at what some of these standout costumes have done to catch our eye as we learn the varying styles each person brings to Halloween.
This Halloween, one of the hottest couples is Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, dressed as Alice and the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland to make their relationship official. That’s their first couple’s costume, and they have taken to the playful theme.
In her iconic blue dress, with a white apron underneath, Gomez portrayed Alice: as innocent, curious, and playful. Her costume augmented the black bow headband, creating a very authentic look to the character’s appearance. Meanwhile, Blanco took his Mad Hatter – complete with a top hat and mismatched patterns – all for a perfect capture of the whimsy of the character. His playful chemistry beams through from their pose that was just Instagram-worthy enough, so fans loved this scene.

Sophie Turner: Trinity from The Matrix
Sophie Turner took quite a bold step away from her medieval origins as she morphed into Trinity, the iconic character from The Matrix. This sci-fi homage showed her in sleek black latex attire that flattered her body while carrying off Trinity’s fierce attitude.
Her face was designed with the highest attention, mini shades, and a holster, that made her look exactly like the character from Carrie-Anne Moss in the movie. The idea of playing this powerful feminine character impressed people and underlined that Turner perfectly combined both style and might. She became a costume-like tribute to not only one of her favorite movies but also to her as a fashion icon.
Ice Spice: Leeloo from The Fifth Element
Ice Spice helped put some color and pep in the Halloween holiday by donning the getup of the orange-haired supreme being known as Leeloo in The Fifth Element. In a stylish throwback, her cropped white top with gold leggings replicated Leeloo’s futuristic fashion sensibilities perfectly.
What set Ice Spice aside was her fineness in detail; even her orange hair, emulating the Leeloo in the film, gave off the realistic feel of what she was wearing. Complete with the custom ID card that looks as if they would use it soon in the movie, the character, and her fearless attitude were portrayed. Here is Ice Spice’s move of not only infatuation with classic movies but even bold ways of fashion through Lizzo: Ozempic by South Park.

Among the most genius costumes of the year was when Lizzo went dressed as Ozempic, a parody drug featured in South Park. The satire was a funny take on body image and societal expectations that started a conversation about the same while also displaying Lizzo’s playful side.
Her costume was an enlarged medicine box, full of silly labels that read “FDA approved” and “diet suppressor.” Attending the event with a Cartman from South Park dressed up, Lizzo’s costume was both amusing and thought-provoking. She showed that body positivity is promoted through her acceptance of comedy in her costume choice and still ensured Halloween spirit to not taken too seriously.
Anne Hathaway: Boo York City
Anne Hathaway was more of a ghost within for her creative interpretation of Boo York City. With a ghostly make-up look and a crown that symbolized the Statue of Liberty, she managed to convert this iconic symbol of New York City into a spook version.
Hathaway’s costume was aesthetically pleasing and conceptually clever. The ghostly elements combined well with NYC iconography, telling an interesting visual story that would please the fans. Her interpretation of this character as comedic was brilliant in merging comedy and style, making her stand out from the rest of Halloween.
Pascal Ibgui: Joan from The Golden Bachelorette
Pascal Ibgui incorporated comedy into his Halloween party as he dressed up as one of the bachelorettes from The Golden Bachelorette. Among them was Joan Vassos. He attired her in a blonde wig, and golden dress, and went on to take pictures with fans on his social media accounts.
With playful lines like, “Pascal, will you take this rose?”, he played with the hearts of his followers with charm and wit. This costume was both a personality highlighter and a tap into the popular culture trends of the time, thus making it relevant to the fans who keep up with reality television.
Ava Max: Another Alice
Ava Max followed Gomez and Blanco in capitalizing on the same theme, Alice in Wonderland, which gave them a nice opportunity to come up with personal ideas. She added a few whimsical accessories to a pretty revealing latex dress.
Both of the interpretations by Max were edgy and playful, making them unique as compared to some of the other interpretations involving Alice. She showed everyone how contemporary interpretations can also revitalize traditional themes because of taking creative liberties at a great level with characters such as Alice.

China Anne McClain: Mrs. Krueger
The darker side of Halloween was presented by former Disney Channel star China Anne McClain with her Mrs. Krueger costume, inspired by the A Nightmare on Elm Street character Freddy Krueger. McClain took the ripped red-and-green striped sweater dress and paired it with knee-high boots, completing the look with a famous claw glove from the horror icon.
Her caption— “Stole my man’s hand; I’m sure he’ll understand”—had humor in it as she added to her chilling look. Horrors are very interesting if there is some fun added to them; this is what McClain proved to be, a great actress and influencer.
Victoria Justice: Coraline
Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice had the hearts of people as she played Coraline from Henry Selick’s animated film. A bright blue wig, yellow raincoat, and matching boots made her an exact replica of Coraline.
Her attention to detail was to the point of reproducing the freckles on Coraline’s face; her costume instantly became recognized by all the film fans. Justice’s decision is therefore to be welcomed by nostalgic viewers of this story as this marks 15 years since its release and there will be re-screenings in theaters.
As Halloween 2024 draws near, the celebrities are stepping it up in terms of creativity and having fun with their costumes. Whether nostalgic references or new interpretations of classic characters, the individuality is palpable as they celebrate the common cultural moments. The anticipation should only heighten, especially with more celebrities in the pipeline, particularly Heidi Klum, leading to Halloween night.
Such creativity, however, comes from the celebrities. Instead of simply entertaining the fans and going through Halloween, they are inspiring fans to be more creative and all-out this Halloween. In either comedy or respect, such costumes remind people that Halloween is all about embracing that child inside us and letting loose. And so it seems like something every celebrity is content with doing this Halloween season.
