However, it still couldn’t cross the Best Play award from the play ‘Purpose’.
3. Sunset Boulevard
The musical ‘Sunset Boulevard’ includes the role of talented actress Nicole Scherzinger, who won the Best Actress award for it. Also, the song directed by JamiLloydod has the honor of receiving the Best Musical Revival award at the Tony Awards 2025.
4. Yellow Face and Buena Vista Social Club
These two songs opened the doors of recognition for two Broadway singers, Francis Jue, and Natalie Venetia Bloom, for their excellent performances in their songs.

Best of the Evening at the Tony Awards 2025
1. Solo Performances:
The Solo Performances of the artists of their respective fields were the major portion of the evening, which was loved by all the guests. The host, Cynthia Erivo, called out the names of the superstars of the evening who sparkled the evening with their presence. She first called out Jonathan Grof, who gave his best performance with ‘Just in Time’ and engaged with the audience with ease. The next artist who was invited to grace the evening was Nicole Scherzinger. She gave an energetic performance with the song ‘As If We Never Said Goodbye’, followed by ‘Sunset Boulevard’. The stage was then given to Audra McDonald, who took all the attention with her performance on ‘Rose’s Turn ’.
2. Hamilton
Lin-Manuel Miranda was invited over to the stage for a performance nobody was ready for. He, along with the original cast of the ‘Hamilton’ musical, reunited to perform the famous theatrical experience that the majority of the audience knew about. The crowd was astounded by this performance. Moreover, Jin-Manuel is known for his cultural roots, but no one expected the cast who are working in much higher positions to return for a performance on Broadway.
3. Jacobs-Jenkins
Jacobs-Jenkins has become a two-time Tony winner in the past two years for his play ‘Purpose’. He has made his plays to a level that people search Google for the nearest theatre to their location, which is an achievement in itself. Moreover, the plays written by Jacobs-Jenkins are based on regional theatre, i.e., he takes inspiration from the regional stories to construct relatable and fun scripts for the audience.
Worst of the Evening at the Tony Awards 2025
1. Opening of the event
For an event as grand as the Tonys, the opening should be grand too. However, the artists Oprah and Adam Lambert couldn’t pull off the banger the audience expected in the opening ceremony. Erivo had to join them from the backstage for the entry, and she did. However, the mismatched chemistry didn’t impact the audience much. Erivo got hold of the situation with her vocals in her last track and mesmerized the audience.
2. Long-winded winners sang off by Erivo.
Victor’s comments were cut off in between while he was speaking. This plan must be a cute theory that might have been implemented incorrectly. However, the situation was controlled then and there.
3. Stampede of Producers
As big as the event is, the investors incur a huge cost in its management and preparation. However, they are still told about something they might have missed due to the high costs, such as flowers. Moreover, the previous year, the producers looked like they had been a part of a stampede on-screen. The camera caught their glimpses such that the audience couldn’t even properly see the person standing without a doubt. Off-screen, the crowd, however, looked manageable. It was one of the mistakes noted later on.
