Today Wordle Answer for June 10

The answer to today’s Wordle #1452 is: TAFFY 🎉

How I Solved Today’s Wordle

My opening word today was BREAD — a standard starter with a good vowel spread and a few common consonants. Unfortunately, not much came out of that, except a lone yellow ‘A’. Not a great beginning, leaving me with 305 possible words according to Wordle Bot.

For my second guess, I don’t even know why I chose AMITY, but it turned out to be a solid move. The ‘A’ stayed yellow, and I picked up a green ‘T’ in the second slot. That slashed the list of possible answers down to just 7 words. Now we’re talking.

Next up was TANGY. Not a perfect guess, but it helped eliminate ‘G’ and placed ‘T’ and ‘A’ together. I had four words left to consider now.

Initially, I thought about TABBY, but I’d already used a ‘B’ in guess one, and it hadn’t helped. So I looked closer at options and saw TAFFY. Something about it just clicked — the repeated ‘F’, the candy clue, the placement of the vowels — and I went for it.

Boom. Got it in four!

Wordle Etymology

Taffy, the chewy, sticky candy we know and love, likely comes from British dialect words like taffie or taffy, recorded in the early 1800s. These terms refer to candy made by boiling sugar and then pulling and stretching it as it cools — which might be where the word’s onomatopoeic origin comes into play.

It’s worth noting this taffy is not connected to the nickname Taffy once used for Welsh people, which derives from Dafydd, the Welsh version of David.

Final Thoughts

Today’s puzzle was a bit trickier than expected. That double ‘F’ can throw players off, especially when the clue nudges you toward candy but doesn’t fully commit. Still, solving it in four guesses isn’t too bad — especially with the Wordle Bot scoring a lucky third-guess victory today.

Let me know how you did with today’s puzzle. Did the double letter trip you up? Or did the hint point you right toward the answer?

I’ll be back tomorrow with another round of clues, hints, and hopefully, a much-needed victory against the Bot. Until then — happy puzzling!
