It’s Wordle Wednesday, and I’m excited to share hints, clues, and the answer for today’s puzzle, Wordle #1264, which is set for December 4th. Each day, players around the world dive into this popular word game, trying to guess a five-letter word within six attempts. The thrill of solving the puzzle keeps everyone coming back for more.
Today’s Wordle is a bit tricky. The hunt for the day is a hidden place, so you get a little idea of what to look for. There is also a clue saying that this word contains no “pure” vowels. That makes it a bit challenging since most players use vowels to narrow down their guesses.
I started my journey of guessing with the word FAITH. This was my first try and resulted in one yellow box, which means one letter is in the word but not in the correct location. Now, I was still left with 212 options for further consideration. Sticking at that point was kind of tough, and therefore, my next attempt at SPORE worked great for ruling out lots of options and finally narrowed me to just two possibilities—namely, CRYPT and TRUMP. I chose CRYPT because it seemed to be more fitting for the hints that were given.

Hints for Today’s Wordle Answer (December 4)
The solution to today’s Wordle is CRYPT! If you got it right, congrats! If not, don’t worry; no one does. It all depends on practice and learning how to use the hints.
Let’s take apart some extra hints for today’s puzzle:
- It starts with the letter C.
- It has only one vowel.
- There are no repeated letters.
- The third letter is R.
- An underground chamber is usually used for burial.
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The etymology of “crypt” is quite interesting as well. It comes from the Latin word crypta, which means vault or hidden place. This Latin term itself derives from the Greek word kryptē, meaning hidden or concealed. Historically, crypts were used as burial places beneath churches or in other significant locations.
Playing Wordle can be a fun way to engage your mind daily. You get six tries to guess the correct word, and each guess provides feedback through colored tiles: green indicates correct letters in the right position, yellow shows correct letters in the wrong position, and grey means that the letter isn’t in the word at all.
If you’re looking for strategies to improve your game, consider starting with words that contain common consonants and vowels. It’s also helpful to think about words related to today’s clues or themes when making your guesses.
As we wrap up today’s Wordle session, please share your results and experiences with friends or on social media. It can be fun to see how others approach the same puzzle and what strategies they use.
