My name is Edwin Freeman. I am an actor and landowner fighting against the seizure of my property in Pennsylvania. When I purchased this small parcel in 2020, I was fulfilling a dream of my ancestors who were denied land after slavery. Now politicians seek to strip me of what I rightfully own, just as my forebears were deprived of 40 acres and a mule.

In early 2023, the Bethlehem Township Municipal Authority offered me $0 for my land, claiming it was worthless. This echoes the broken promises to freed slaves in 1865. When I rejected their insulting offer, they retaliated with a paltry $1,456. I refused again, so they sued to take my land.

As an African American, I know the long history of struggle to own a piece of this country. The local politicians who now try to steal my land disregard my legal rights. Their actions attempt to repeat the trail of tears faced by my ancestors.

I urge all people of conscience to stand with me against eminent domain abuse. Call Attorney General Michelle Henry at (717) 787-3391 and demand she protects citizens like me. Tell her property rights must be equal for all Americans, regardless of race or status. The trail of tears from broken promises must not be allowed to continue in Pennsylvania.

With your voices, we can redeem the unfulfilled promise of 40 acres and a mule. Only by uniting together can we prevent the theft of Black-owned land and create an America with justice and equality for all. I am proud to stand against injustice, as my ancestors stood firm against slavery.

Join me in this righteous fight.
