The World Stands Up to Sanctions

Sanctions are laws passed by the US and EU to ban, block, or restrict trade to a specific country, group, or individual when they do not comply with US and EU foreign policy. Currencies are devalued and inflated when sanctions are levied, international credit ratings tank, and countries are pressured to stop doing business with sanctioned countries.  The first sectors affected are usually medicines, the cost of food, power, water treatment, and other essential human needs. KPFA’s Ann Garrison reports on “The World Stands Up to Sanctions” an upcoming webinar organized by the Sanctions Kill! Coalition.

The Sanctions Kill! Coalition will hold a webinar, “The World Stands Up to Sanction” on Sunday, January 23rd, beginning at 1 pm Eastern time. Speakers will include:

Francisco Campbell,  Nicaraguan Ambassador to the US,

Carlos Ron, Venezuelan Vice Minister for North America,

Deacon Yoseph Teferi, Chairman of the Ethiopian American Civic Council,

Elias Amare, Eritrean American journalist,

Erica Jung, Korean grassroots organizer, and

Foad Izadi, Associate Professor, University of Tehran.

Foad Izaadi will not be able to join the webinar because Zoom restricts access in Iran and in other sanctioned countries, but he will send a pre-recorded video presentation.

To register, for the webinar, go to “The World Stands Up to Sanctions“.

The Sanctions Kill! Coalition sponsors webinars, education, and actions on sanctions, including publicizing the many actions taken by its partner organizations. Their website is sanctionskill.org.
